Back in the old days, classrooms were simply a place for the student to sit there and listen to the teacher. That has evolved over the years in ways that made a student's learning environment more enjoyable. Tables were rearranged, windows were bigger, the chalkboard became white boards with color. Too often, schools—not only elementary and secondary schools, but also college classrooms, fail to capitalize on what is known about how people learn most effectively. To design effective school-based learning, we need to rethink the way of the traditional schooling environment. Even if there isn't access to creating big changes to the room, with the teacher's capability and the student's cooperation, small changes can take a big turn.
