Step 1, Get a classroom...
Not every classroom can be a perfect environment, due to many reasons. Also, these tips will not guarantee a successful classroom on every campus, but they can be put into consideration. Learning spaces can be complex, there are multiple variables that go along with it. One of the key ones is the school itself, and the teacher's motivation.Depending on what age you are teaching, the key is to keep in mind that they still are kids. Just because they aren't learning about their ABC's, or almost out of high school doesn't mean they shouldn't receive the same type of learning experience as elementary school kids do. Almost anything you see in a classroom can have an effect on the student's learning. Carpet, Colors, lighting, the location of teacher's desk, may seem like un important, small details, but they can play a big part!
Here's what you can do to start improving your learning space!
-Get rid of the standard desk set up! ~Students don't all have to face the teachers, groups also help with collaboration.
-Have work hanging around the walls. ~Helps students be proud of their work
-Besides the diversity of their work, have a diversity of colors, shelves, extra furniture. ~It will create a more comfortable space.
-Make sure the temperature stays at a neutral, comfortable level.~If it's hot, students can get tired.
-Have big windows that let natural light in.~Not as much need for artificial light.
-Allow a space where kids can work individually.~They need their own space every once in a while!
